The Best Hair Extensions?

The best hair extensions are the ones that are done right! Everything after that is a personal preference. However, as a licensed cosmetology professional who specializes in hair extensions over the course of my 25 year career, I’ve found that any hair extension method using an adhesive can be damaging.

Using hair extension methods without adhesive are less to non damaging. If you are looking to grow your hair and improve the integrity, the traditional sew in method is definitely the best. However what you do before the installation is very important. Make sure to get your hair 100% healthy with a KPAK repair system and a good trim.

Second, beaded hand sewn single rows is a great way to grow your hair out and achieve a full look with length. However, this works best when you match your hair texture. For black women I prefer the Afro kinky curly hair and kinky straight only so your not straightening your hair everyday to match the texture. There are several ways to texture match for all women of all ethnicities.

Now, you have bonds and adhesive methods. Like I said not a big fan, however they can serve there purpose when installed and worn correctly.

Then you have wigs, lace, ponytails, clip ins, and accessories. Again, when worn correctly can be non damaging. Definitely not a long term solution to hair loss or growing hair out. These are good for having different styles and options to choose from. You can have medical grade hair loss solution pieces made if you have alopecia and your natural hair won’t grow back.

The best hair extension methods for you should be discussed with a professional to determine what is the best option for you. Everyone is different and has different needs.
