The Difference Between Bleached and Naturally Blonde I-Tip Hair
Blonde is a popular I-tip shade request, and after 21+ years behind the chair, I think it's important clients understand exactly how our Dark Blonde and Medium Blonde shades are achieved.
PART ONE: How Our Blonde I-Tip Shades Are Made
True naturally platinum or light blonde raw hair from a single donor is rare. Our Dark Blonde and Medium Blonde I-tip shades are achieved by carefully lightening naturally darker raw hair while preserving the raw, single-donor, cuticle-intact structure as much as possible.
PART TWO: Why Honesty About This Matters
Lightened hair, even when raw and well processed, needs slightly more moisture-focused care than hair that was never chemically altered, since lightening does affect the hair's internal protein structure to some degree.
"I'd rather tell clients honestly that their blonde I-tip hair was lightened raw hair needing a bit more moisture than sell a 'natural blonde' story that leaves them confused about upkeep."
PART THREE: Caring for Lightened Raw Blonde I-Tip Hair
Use a moisturizing, purple or blue-toned shampoo occasionally to maintain cool tone and prevent brassiness, paired with more frequent deep conditioning than you'd use on unlightened shades. Joico's moisturizing and color-care lines work well here.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Blonde I-tip hair is almost always lightened raw hair, not naturally that light — and that's fine, as long as you know it and care for it accordingly. We carry raw I-tip hair in Dark Blonde and Medium Blonde alongside our natural shade range, from 14 to 32 inches.
