Deep Conditioning Your Wig: The Secret to Longevity

DEEP CONDITIONING YOUR WIG: THE SECRET TO LONGEVITY

Deep conditioning is the single most important thing you can do to keep your wig looking fresh and lasting longer.

After 21 years, I've never met a wig problem that wasn't at least partially solved by deep conditioning.

PART ONE: WHY DEEP CONDITIONING MATTERS

Hair Loses Moisture

Every time you wash, style, or expose your wig to heat, it loses moisture. Deep conditioning replaces that moisture.

Moisture = Longevity

Moisturized hair is soft, shiny, and durable. Dry hair is rough, dull, and breaks easily. Deep conditioning keeps hair moisturized.

Prevents Most Problems

Tangling? Often caused by dryness. Breakage? Dryness. Dull appearance? Dryness. Deep conditioning fixes most of these.

PART TWO: HOW TO DEEP CONDITION

Weekly Deep Conditioning

1. After washing, squeeze out excess water 2. Apply deep conditioner generously to all hair 3. Let sit 10-15 minutes 4. Rinse thoroughly with cool water 5. Squeeze excess water 6. Air dry

Monthly Intensive Treatment

1. After washing, apply intensive conditioning mask 2. Let sit 30-60 minutes 3. Rinse thoroughly 4. Squeeze and dry

Emergency Deep Condition (When Hair Is Struggling)

1. Apply deep conditioner 2. Leave on overnight (8+ hours) 3. Rinse thoroughly 4. Dry 5. Repeat 2-3 nights in a row if necessary

PART THREE: WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A CONDITIONER

Must Have: - Sulfate-free - Formulated for human hair or wigs - Rich, moisturizing formula - No silicones (builds up over time)

Nice to Have: - Protein to strengthen - Natural oils (argan, coconut, jojoba) - Vitamins or antioxidants

BOTTOM LINE

Deep condition weekly. If your wig is struggling, deep condition more frequently. It's the best investment you can make in your wig's health.
