How to Measure for the Perfect Wig Fit

HOW TO MEASURE FOR THE PERFECT WIG FIT

A wig that fits properly is the foundation of everything else. Measure correctly the first time.

PART ONE: TOOLS YOU NEED

  • Soft measuring tape
  • Mirror
  • Your head (obviously!)

PART TWO: THE MEASUREMENTS

Measurement 1: Around Your Head

Measure from your forehead, around your temples, behind your ears, around the back of your head, and back to forehead. This is your cap size.

Average sizes: XS (20-21"), S (21-22"), M (22-23"), L (23-24"), XL (24-25")

Measurement 2: Front to Nape

From your hairline down the center back to your nape. This determines wig length and where the wig sits on your head.

Measurement 3: Ear to Ear (Front)

From ear to ear across your forehead. Determines front wig coverage.

Measurement 4: Ear to Ear (Back)

From ear to ear across the back of your head. Determines back coverage.

PART THREE: FIT TESTING

When You Receive the Wig

1. Put it on 2. Adjust the back straps until snug but not tight 3. You should be able to fit one finger under the straps 4. Hairline should sit 1/4 inch from your natural hairline 5. The wig shouldn't slip when you turn your head 6. The wig shouldn't feel restrictive or painful

BOTTOM LINE

Measure carefully. A properly fitting wig is the most important factor in looking good and being comfortable.
