Why Your I-Tips Feel Different After the First Home Wash
Just like K-tip clients, new I-tip clients often notice their hair feels different after the first home wash compared to how it looked leaving the salon. After 21+ years behind the chair, here's why that happens.
PART ONE: What Changes After the First Home Wash
Salon-applied product and professional blowout styling make any extension feel exceptionally smooth on install day. Once you wash at home and style it yourself, you're seeing the hair's true, natural texture for the first time.
PART TWO: This Is Usually Completely Normal
Raw hair, being real unprocessed hair, will always look slightly different after a salon blowout versus a home wash and air dry — exactly like your own natural hair does. This isn't a sign of a bad install; it's simply real hair behaving like real hair.
"I prep every new I-tip client the same way: your hair will look different once you wash it yourself, and that's expected, not a problem."
PART THREE: When It's Actually a Problem
Normal texture adjustment is different from tangling near the beads, unusual dryness, or a straw-like feel — those point to the wrong shampoo or conditioner (we recommend Joico for raw hair), not simply the first-wash adjustment.
THE BOTTOM LINE
A slight texture change after your first home wash is expected with raw hair — real tangling or dryness signals a product issue, not a hair quality issue. We supply raw I-tip hair from 14 to 32 inches in a range of natural and blonde shades.
