I-Tips for Winter: Cold Weather Care Tips
Winter weather brings its own set of I-tip care considerations, and after 21+ years behind the chair, here in Denver's dry climate especially, I always walk clients through seasonal adjustments.
PART ONE: Combating Dryness
Cold, dry winter air pulls moisture from hair faster than other seasons, meaning raw I-tip hair often needs more frequent leave-in conditioner and deep conditioning treatments to stay soft and manageable.
PART TWO: Hats, Scarves, and Friction
Wool hats and scarves can create significant friction against hair, particularly near beads, so a silk or satin-lined hat, or simply braiding hair before putting on winter headwear, reduces unnecessary tangling and static.
"Denver winters are brutally dry. I always tell clients to increase their leave-in conditioner routine as soon as the weather turns — don't wait until hair already feels dry and brittle."
PART THREE: Indoor Heating Effects
Indoor heating systems dry out air just as much as the cold outside, so maintaining a consistent moisture routine indoors and out is important throughout the whole winter season, not just when you're outdoors.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Increase moisture-focused care and protect hair from wool friction during winter months to keep your raw I-tip hair healthy and manageable. We carry raw I-tip hair from 14 to 32 inches in a range of natural and blonde shades.
