Quality starts long before the hair ever reaches a weft machine. Reputable suppliers sort hair by:

• Cuticle direction — keeping the cuticle aligned root-to-tip prevents tangling and matting
• Length consistency — every strand in the bundle should be close to the stated length, not padded with shorter pieces
• Donor source — single-donor versus multi-donor hair affects texture consistency

This is where a lot of cheap bundles fall apart, literally. When hair isn't properly sorted before it's wefted, you end up with strands running in different directions, which is the number one cause of matting and tangling people blame on "bad hair" when it's really bad sorting.
